LAMO NAMES KIM EVERIST AS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR OF GIRLS PROGRAMS

The Lamorinda Water Polo Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Kim Everist as the Technical Director of the Girls Program. Kim will also continue as Head Coach of the Girls’ 18U team. Kim brings to the LAMO Girls Programs an incredible amount of experience, knowledge and success at the high school, USAWP National Team, Olympic Development Program and club levels. LAMO is in the midst of an incredible turnaround, and Kim’s new focus in this area will propel LAMO forward on its path to excellence.

Twenty-one years into her coaching career, Kim is truly one of the legends of Bay Area women coaches. In 1998, Kim was named Miramonte’s Varsity Girls Head Coach. In her first year she led the Mats to a NCS title. In 2006, Kim became the Head Coach at Campolindo High School. During her ongoing tenure at Campolindo, Kim has led the Cougars to 4 NCS titles (2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014). During her tenure, Campo made six consecutive NCS championships games (2010-15), and in 2018 Kim brought Campo back to the NCS championship game.

Beyond her groundbreaking high school success, Kim brings to LAMO a wealth of USA Water Polo National Team and international experience in the critically important areas of player, team and coach development. Kim began her international career in 2001 as the Women’s Youth (18U) National Team Assistant Coach. She became the Junior (20u) National Team Assistant Coach in 2004 where she played a critical role in the team’s success at the 2005 and 2009 Junior World Championships (gold medal and bronze medal). Due to her expertise and success at building teams, Kim was selected as the first Head Coach of the Cadet (16u) National Team in 2009, leading the Cadet National Team to a silver medal at the 2011 Youth Pan American Championships. Kim’s international experience as a representative of Team USA in a variety of positions is highlighted by two Olympic Games, four Junior World Championships and six Junior and Youth Pan American Championships.

“Having been a long time coach and member of Lamorinda Water Polo, I am excited to accept new challenges and work with our community of amazing people to create incredible opportunities for our student-athletes, coaches, families and the community as a whole,” said Kim Everist.

Kim was hired in 2009 as the first USAWP Olympic Development Program (ODP) Girls National Technical Director. James Lathrop, Lamorinda Boys Technical Director and 18u Boys Head Coach, was then selected as the first ODP Boys National Technical Director. LAMO now has in place the three architects, Kim, James and Guy, of the original Olympic Development Program and its undeniable success.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to work with Kim again” said James Lathrop, Lamorinda Boys Technical Director. We had a great experience working together as ODP directors. I really respect Kim as a director, a coach, and as a person. She will do a great job as Lamorinda Girls Technical Director!”

“Working with Guy and James in our ODP days were the best, and joining forces again brings exciting times ahead. Go LAMO!!!”, stated Kim.

LAMO is very excited about the path that the Club is on, and even more excited that Kim Everist will be stepping into this new role working with Guy and James to create new initiatives and programs that have never been seen at the club level.
